Job Description
Join Havertys Human Resources Team as the Director - Employee Benefits and Wellness. In this role, you will maintain and enhance the company’s benefits program by administering all components, including retirement plans. You will work closely with vendors and carriers to ensure the best possible outcomes for Havertys’ team members. Certification in CEBS, PHR, and/or SHRM is preferred.
Pay: $120,000 with bonus and equity eligibility.
Schedule: In the office- Monday through Friday with 1 work from home day a week.
This is Your Opportunity to:
Manage Benefits Staff
- Manage Benefits Specialist regarding daily administration of leave of absence program.
Manage Benefits
- Work with both vendors and brokers to ensure benefit plan provisions are implemented and address any issues that arise.
- Manage both fully and self-insured benefit plans, including group health, life, and disability plans.
- Administer Executive Health & Wellness (H&W) plans.
- Expedite delivery of benefits by maintaining vendor and broker relationships.
- Coordinate the annual open enrollment process with multiple vendors.
Retirement Benefits
- Manage the 401(k) plan, including preparing weekly contribution files.
- Manage the Deferred Compensation retirement plan for executives.
- Administer the Supplemental Executive Retirement Plan by providing retirement timelines and calculations for participants, and work closely with actuaries for annual reporting.
- Provide necessary information to participants in past pension plans.
- Act as a liaison with the recordkeeper.
- Provide support to team members in the interpretation, procedures, policies, and administration of the plans.
- Implement plan design and legislative changes.
- Audit weekly feed files and reporting.
- Be present at committee meetings for minutes and follow-up.
Employee Communication and Support
- Develop communications for benefit announcements for team member distribution.
- Work with the H&W communication vendor for open enrollment announcements, adhering to strict deadlines.
- Conduct benefit meetings and webinars.
- Review and approve FMLA communications and procedures with the Benefits Specialist.
- Work with Benefits staff on employee matters that are escalated and require further research.
Compliance
- Interpret provisions of the ACA to keep the company in compliance.
- Review and submit, if applicable, year-end compliance reporting for both H&W and Retirement plans.
- Work with internal and external auditors to ensure requested information is available for audits.
- Ensure the validity of electronic data feeds and audit periodically to ensure correct data communication.
- Ensure that bills are reconciled and paid on time.
- Maintain an updated procedure manual for the benefits department.
Wellness Program
- Facilitate the success of the Wellness program by coordinating wellness newsletters and health-related communications.
- Track program costs to ensure the program remains within budgeted guidelines.
- Coordinate annual wellness events.
- Manage vendor relationships.
- Provide support to employees in the interpretation and procedures of the wellness program.
Job Requirements

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years’ work experience in Human Resources or benefits area, some of which included supervisory duties.
- Certification in CEBS, PHR, and/or SHRM preferred.
- Skills include Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365, HRIS systems.
- Ability to learn quickly on a variety of topics.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask within a ticketing environment.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Flexible hours and weekend availability to support our business.
- Proven track record of getting results and being a fast learner.
- Have the ability to enhance Havertys' presence within the benefits community through active participation in local professional groups, such as SHRM, HRCI, and CEBS.
Work Environment:
- Clean professional corporate office environment working from Havertys Home Office located at 780 Johnson Ferry Rd. SE near Sandy Springs/Dunwoody GA.
- Work on-site Monday through Friday, with the flexibility of one remote workday per week.
Physical Demands:
- The position requires the ability to sit for extended periods and frequent use of a computer and phone, visual acuity to read detailed information on screens and printed materials, proficiency to operate keyboards, mice, and other computer accessories, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and written.
