Job Description
Havertys is seeking an Occasional and Entertainment Furniture Buyer to design and direct the Occasional and Entertainment program for Havertys Furniture. This role is crucial in achieving financial goals, sourcing and selecting product lines, managing vendor relationships, and staying current with fashion trends to ensure Havertys merchandise is sought after and competitively priced.
Compensation: Salary range is between $90,000 to $105,0000 per year based on experience.
This is your Opportunity to:
- Research, assort, and purchase a diverse array of merchandise for the Occasional and Entertainment categories.
- Manage the Occasional and Entertainment program mix to maximize inventory turn and ensure accurate and timely order quantities.
- Build a profitable product assortment within budget to achieve company margin requirements.
- Develop a strong understanding of our customers to serve them and furnish happiness.
- Identify emerging design trends, develop profitable category concepts, and high-end product lines that capitalize on these trends.
- Cultivate, develop, and maintain positive business relationships with vendors.
- Lead market appointments and negotiate cost and merchandise product flows from the factory.
- Manage sales and margins for direct categories.
- Prepare and present sales and product recaps for review with Executive, Merchandising, and Sales teams.
- Implement a program to eliminate non-selling items and replace them with new, productive assortments.
- Partner with Marketing and Web teams to ensure a cohesive experience across platforms and optimal product presentation.
- Prepare bulletins, memos, product correlations, visual coordinator and vendor correspondence, and other related information.
- Travel to markets, stores, and internal meetings as needed.

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Merchandising, Business, Interior Design, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 plus years of buying experience in Furniture, Accessories, Housewares, Giftware, or Interior Design.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Access, and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong business and analytical background with high attention to detail.
- Curiosity about business with the ability to problem-solve and think outside the box.
- Proven self-starter with excellent time management, planning, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Must be very detail oriented.
- Ability to travel with occasional weekend travel.
Work Environment:
- Work from the Havertys Home Office located at 780 Johnson Ferry Rd. NE, Atlanta, GA 30342, four to five days per week, with one day remote.
Physical Demands:
- Occasional travel.
